And the winner is…

Eurofishin Winners

First,  FishTwits would like to say thankyou to everyone who entered there photos in the inaugural Eurofishin Photo Contest! Eric and I have had a lot of fun running the competition, it has been great to wake up every morning to see fantastic new photos and fishing stories from all over the world!

It was a tough competition, at first it looked like the inaugural Eurofishin Photo Contest was going to be dominated by the Americans, who were submitting some great photos of their Bass and game fishing exploits.  Then the Swedes stepped in with a pretty amazing Marlin entry, this was followed by some ‘Cool Tuna’s’ and Giant Trevally’s before the crowd was set alight by Christine’s Sturgeon and Carp entries from France.  In fact, it looked like Christine and her Diamond Back Sturgeon were in an insurpassable position coming in to the last week of the competition but then in a come out of know where entry, reminiscent of Lordi’s Hard Rock Hallelujah in Eurovision 2006, Simon from Finland made a huge impact with his alternative ‘Condom Fly Fishing Style’!

We are proud to crown Simon from Finland as the Inaugural Eurfishin Champion! Simon has cemented himself, his condom fly and Finland a place in the annals of fishing history (We highly recommend you check out his blog for more great photos, stories and tips on tying awesome Pike Flies) . Congratulations!  We will be sending Simon a $25 Kiva Voucher courtesy of our friends at 273, which he can use to invest in an entrepreneur in the developing world, along with a set of 44 Line Weight Labels courtesy of Jeff over at One Cool Tuna.

Christine managed to take both second and third places with the awesome Sturgeon and Carp she caught in France.  A sterlng effor for which we have decided to reward her with a $25 Kiva Voucher of her own, along with of course a 44 Line Weight Labels courtesy of Jeff over at One Cool Tuna.

    Thanks to all that voted and thanks guys for the chance to enter a great little competition. Will think about where the money should go…..Maybe to a Papua new guinea fisherman for giving me the idea.
